On April 3, the Avalon Theatre was buzzing with power because the Trans-Canada Highwaymen took the stage and delivered an evening of pure Canadian rock nostalgia.

Comprised of Moe Berg (The Pursuit of Happiness), Chris Murphy (Sloan), Craig Northey (Odds), and Steven Web page (previously of Barenaked Girls), this all-star lineup introduced many years of musical historical past collectively in a single unforgettable efficiency. Every member took turns within the highlight, sharing tales behind the songs and buying and selling harmonies with a camaraderie that felt each real and infectious.

The setlist was a love letter to Canadian music followers, filled with fan-favourites like “Laborious to Chortle,” “Somebody Who’s Cool,” “Underwhelmed,” and “It’s All Been Carried out.” In addition they paid homage to the legends who got here earlier than them with well-received covers like Michel Pagliaro’s “Lovin’ You Ain’t Simple,”  Lighthouse’s “Fairly Girl,” and Andy Kim’s “Rock Me Gently.”

The Avalon Theatre proved to be the right venue—intimate, acoustically crisp, and visually beautiful.

The Trans-Canada Highwaymen celebrated an period and for longtime followers of Canadian rock, this present was a time capsule that left most of the  followers wanting extra.
